We drove from the Grand Canyon to a spot near Heber, Arizona, in the Sitgreaves National Forest. We met up with my dad, his wife Kathleen, and their friends Roger and Judy. Those couples live in their motorhomes, either full time or part time. For Ashleigh and I, our Jeep and trailer together weren't as long, tall, or wide as either of the motorhomes.
The first nite we relaxed and ate some hamburgers and potato salad. The next day, Friday, yesterday, we drove up the road a little ways to Woods Canyon to peer off of the plateau rim which divides the lowland from the highland in Arizona.
Down the road a little farther there was a stocked fishing lake with boat rentals, so we rented a boat and puttered around for a little more than an hour. It was powered by a small electric trolling motor. We dangled our feet in the water and enjoyed the sun.
That nite we cooked over the campfire again and took a bikeride down the dirt road and back. I got some new bluegrass and gospel music from dad and Kathleen, helped them with some technology problems, and went to bed before ten. This morning was just some quick goodbyes before getting on the road. The next major stop is Carlsbad Caverns!
