I tweaked the site. I made the whole thing wider, because the blog always looked too skinny to me.
I made the map showing our progress into a static image. The website took a long time to load, and I think that was a big part of the reason. Now you can click on the text to go to the map in Google Maps or in Google Earth. It is very time consuming to generate the KML files which drive the map, which is why I don't update it very often. Moreover, the resulting files are gigantic, which is why I can't show the whole route at once.
I finally figured out how to enable comments for real. They were enabled in concept, but hidden, or something like that. Leave comments as you wish, I don't think you even need to register with the site.
